The Battle

I was diagnosed with CML in May 2024 at the age of 50. I was suffering from fatigue and headaches, noticed bruising more easily, bone marrow biopsy confirm CML. Started on Imitinib 400mg, which had very bad side effects, nausea, fatigue, foggy brain dropped dose to 200mg which I managed for 12 months. BCR level started increasing slowly so haematologist switched me to Dasatinib 100 mg. I am still currently on this amount and almost undetectable last BCR level!

Life has changed a lot since my diagnoses, I am still working fulltime, but need to remember to rest when my body is telling me to, certainly need a few more extra hours sleep each night. This disease has affected my whole family, it is hard on them to watch me go through this. People think that because you look well you are well, they don’t see the battle that is really going on inside of you!
