Lynne’s Story and Still Going
I was diagnosed with CML and Cervical cancer in 2005, a challenging time for our family. My children were young, and the uncertainty of my future was understandably frightening for them.
When they asked if I would die, I was honest about the situation, acknowledging the seriousness of the diagnosis but also emphasizing the importance of hope in the medical treatment I received. I explained that while the road ahead might be difficult, we would face it together.
The early years of my treatment were particularly demanding, and I recognize that the side effects impacted our family dynamics significantly. My children lost me to side effects for the first 6 years, their teen years. My marriage ended and then I was alone.
Over the years, I have been on many treatments and in 2015, I entered my first phase 1 clinical trial for ABL001. This experience has been both challenging and rewarding. A trial is something I never anticipated or cared to do. Then I developed a mutation and my kids were then adults and I was out of options, so why not? I am currently in deep molecular response and I have been since I started the trial. I’m currently enrolled in a long term use trial. I’m proud to have contributed to the advancement of treatments for CML and to have been a part of the progress made in this field and that progress is growing rapidly.
